The Put God First Challenge
Prayer
Father,
I recognize that as I follow You, I am engaged in a spiritual battle. Your Word reminds me that my struggle is not against flesh and blood but against the forces of darkness in the spiritual realm (Ephesians 6:12). At times, the battle feels overwhelming—temptations, doubts, fears, and attacks come in ways I don’t always expect. But I take heart, knowing that You have already overcome the enemy. You are my refuge and strength, my ever-present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1).
Lord, You have given me everything I need to stand firm. You have provided the armor of God—the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, the gospel of peace, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit (Ephesians 6:13-17). Help me to put on this armor daily, so that I am not caught off guard or left defenseless. Train my hands for battle and my fingers for war (Psalm 144:1). Let me stand in Your power, not my own, because apart from You, I can do nothing (John 15:5).
The enemy seeks to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10), but You have come that I may have life abundantly. I know that Satan is a deceiver, the father of lies (John 8:44). When he whispers doubt, remind me of Your truth. When he tries to discourage me, fill my heart with Your promises. When fear rises, let me take up the shield of faith to extinguish his fiery darts (Ephesians 6:16).
Jesus, You showed me how to fight spiritual battles when You were tempted in the wilderness. You responded with the Word of God, declaring truth in the face of lies (Matthew 4:1-11). Teach me to do the same. Help me to take captive every thought and make it obedient to Christ (2 Corinthians 10:5). Let me resist the devil, knowing that when I do, he must flee (James 4:7).
Lord, I will not walk in fear, because greater is He who is in me than he who is in the world (1 John 4:4). The enemy may wage war against me, but no weapon formed against me will prosper (Isaiah 54:17). I declare that I am more than a conqueror through Christ (Romans 8:37). You, Lord, are faithful, and You will strengthen and protect me from the evil one (2 Thessalonians 3:3).
Help me to stay alert and prayerful, knowing that the enemy prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour (1 Peter 5:8). But I belong to You, and You fight for me (Deuteronomy 20:4). I will stand in victory, knowing that the battle is Yours. Thank You for equipping me, strengthening me, and surrounding me with Your presence.
In Jesus’ name, Amen
